Radio was one of the first inventions that led to the advanced mode of communication today in the world. The radio can be thought of as the basic means or devices which have helped mankind in establishing a very stable form of communication so that he can communicate with people all around the world without any difficulty.

Have you ever thought how a radio works? You might have seen the antenna in the old radios, have you wondered why it was used or why it has disappeared from the face of the devices today. In fact you can find a significant change between the radios and devices of a few decades back and those found today which has similar operation but different look.

A radio transmits the signals with the help of a certain band of frequency. Some of you may be familiar with this. You might have heard that a radio station works on 91.9 kHz or something similar. All these denote the band of frequency that the radio station uses to transmit its signals. Every radio station has their own frequencies to transmit signals.

An antenna was used for better signal receptivity. This is to say that in some cases the signals could not be received properly so you increase the height of the antenna so that the signals could be received more efficiently. This was a common practice with the earlier models of radios but today, with the advancement of the technology you don’t have antennas.

The radio antennas with adjustable lengths have been replaced by inbuilt antennas which are used to receive the signals efficiently without any hassles or problems. Also, the reception and clarity of the radios found today are very good and of high quality. You may not find a phone or a car nowadays without radios and each are given good quality radios with advanced features.

The radio has come a long way from being a new invention to something which influences your daily life. Radio has really grown out of proportion in the recent years.
